The Arab-German Business Forum Breaks Records!
Olaf Hoffmann Elected as the New President of the Ghorfa.
The 27th Arab-German Business Forum, held in Berlin from June 3rd to June 5th, 2024, witnessed a remarkable gathering of industry leaders and policymakers. During the forum’s proceedings on Monday, June 3rd, 2024, Mr. Olaf Hoffmann, Chairman of the Dorsch Gruppe, was elected as the new president of Ghorfa by the board of directors. Furthermore, elections were held for the Ghorfa executive board, with Sheikh Khalifa Al-Thani assuming the role of first vice president, Dr. Joachim Pfeiffer as the second vice president, and Mr. Khalil Al Hajj Toufiq as the third vice president.
Recognizing the invaluable contributions of Dr. Peter Ramsauer, former president of Ghorfa and former Federal Minister, and H.E. Ali Al-Ghanim, former first vice president of Ghorfa and Chairman of Ali Al Ghanim & Sons Co., both were honoured with the title of honorary presidents.
The Arab-German Business Forum has once again proven and emphasized its status as the premier platform for Arab-German business and economic cooperation. Over 350 Arab and German entrepreneurs, business representatives and diplomats convened at the business forum. The forum showcased a wide range of significant topics through 8 panel discussions featuring around 70 speakers and 5 country round-tables and 1 round table focused on empowering women and young leaders.
The Sultanate of Oman was the partner country of the 27th Arab-German Business Forum. We were honoured to welcome a distinguished delegation from the Sultanate of Oman, led by H.E. Dr. Said Mohammed Al-Saqri, Minister of Economy. Additionally, we were pleased to host notable delegations from the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, including representatives from the Ministry of Investment, and from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, led by H.E. Khaled El Juffali, Chairman of the Saudi German Business Council. Furthermore, we extended our warm welcome to delegations from the UAE, Qatar, Iraq, Egypt, and all other Arab countries, representing both the public and private sectors. Their presence enriched the discourse and underscored our collective commitment to fostering enduring partnerships.
The positive trajectory of Arab-German business cooperation is evident in the significant increase in trade, reaching 62 billion euros in 2023, marking a 20% rise from the previous year.
